Dr. Shannon Daley

Dr. Shannon Daley specializes in psychological assessments of children, adolescents, and young adults. She is licensed to practice in California (PSY 15783) uses intellectual, socio-emotional, and neuropsychological testing to evaluate children, teens, and young adults for:

  • Anxiety and Mood Disorders
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Behavioral Difficulties
  • Communication Disorders (expressive and receptive language)
  • Executive Functioning Difficulties, including organization and motivation
  • Intellectual Evaluations (IQ)
  • Learning Disabilities, including in reading (dyslexia), writing, and math
  • Social Difficulties and Adjustment Issues
  • Documentation for Accommodations

Dr. Daley completed her B.A. in Psychology at UCLA, graduating cum laude and with Departmental Honors. She continued on at UCLA for her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Developmental Psychology. Upon obtaining her doctorate, Dr. Daley completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA, for which she received the Chancellor’s Award for Postdoctoral Research. Dr. Daley’s academic research focused on interpersonal factors in adolescent and young adult mental health. Specifically, she examined how risk for depression is influenced by stressful life events, issues in romantic and social relationships, and different personality styles.

Dr. Daley’s clinical training included assessments of children and adults with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and learning disabilities; cognitive-behavioral therapy with adults with depression and bipolar disorder; parent support groups and child psychotherapy. She joined the faculty at the University of Southern California in 1998, where she taught undergraduate courses on abnormal and clinical psychology, graduate courses on psychological assessment, and supervised doctoral students. Since 2006 she has served as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at UCLA, helping to train the next generation of psychologists in how to conduct clinically sensitive and scientifically-based assessments of children, teens, and young adults.

And finally, the love of my career is facilitating Interpersonal Process therapy groups. I believe strongly that group therapy is one of the most powerful modalities that exist in helping patients transform their lives . I am dedicated to lifelong learning as a group leader, and I receive mentorship from a Modern Analytic Group Therapy lens.

Dr. Daley is committed to providing an in-depth understanding of each individual, looking beneath the surface to understand what is underlying their feelings, academic performance, and behavior, and to provide useful recommendations to families. She maintains a warm and encouraging approach, and always strives to make the testing experience comfortable and enjoyable.
