From Vision to Visibility: How Group Therapy LA & NY Helped Launch PEERS for Dating

This past Thursday, The New York Times featured PEERS for Dating—an innovative UCLA program that equips autistic adults with the skills to form and sustain meaningful romantic relationships.

As the founder of Group Therapy Los Angeles and Group Therapy New York, and as a parent to a son on the spectrum, I believed deeply in the importance of this work. Our practices provided the founding grant to help launch this dating-focused expansion of the PEERS model—an area that traditionally receives little public funding.

The result? A nationally recognized program rooted in research, real-world coaching, and emotional empowerment. The same framework even inspired the beloved Netflix series Love on the Spectrum.

At GTLA & GTNY, our mission has always been to provide neurodiversity-affirming care. That includes therapy for autistic adults and couples, guidance for parents, support for partners in neurodiverse relationships, and clinician training.

We’re proud to have played a part in bringing this essential program to life—and we’re even more proud to continue supporting the individuals and families it was built to serve
