So many people talk about the importance of meditation, but few of them ever describe — in a way that makes sense — what meditation really is. Is it sitting and being still? Is it clearing the mind? Frankly, the sound of those “activities” doesn’t sound very appealing. Perhaps one way to think about meditation is spending time with the person you are on the inside, rather than who you seem to be on the outside. Another way to think of meditation is giving your body and your mind a rest. When you allow yourself to be who you really are, without requiring yourself to do anything or think about anything, your whole self will eventually start to believe that it’s okay to just be…yourself. The benefits of just being with yourself, for 60 seconds, without asking for anything in return, will eventually start to relax your whole system. When this inner sense of relaxation occurs, your innate powers of self-acceptance, inspiration, and love will flow forth.
