When we invest our time and energy into a relationship, we often want that investment to pay dividends. Unfortunately, some relationships never give back what you put into them. If you think back, the red flags and the broken, damaged, or one-way behaviors were there from the beginning. Just as a business that continually loses money is a poor investment, staying in a job, relationship, or living situation that is broken is also a poor investment. Be a wise investor. When something consistently underperforms, realize that you will never get back what you put in, eat the “sunk cost” and move on.
