When we feel rushed, our whole emotional system is suddenly on edge, and we have fewer inner resources available. Being rushed means feeling less fun, less freedom, less joy, less inspiration. Innovative solutions generally do not hatch when we feel rushed. And certainly, it is harder to feel that we are “in flow” or “our best self.” If you think about it, feeling rushed is usually something that only happens when someone else tells *you* to handle *their* emergency. If you are feeling rushed, remind yourself that “someone’s emergency is not my urgency.” With this reminder, you give yourself the opportunity to pause, and perhaps realize that – not only is rushing not necessary – maybe you should not be involved in the situation at all.
